Itinerary
Set off from Entebbe International Airport to Zanzibar Airport. Here you will be picked up by a driver and you head out to the UNESCO heritage town (Stone Town). Stone Town isn’t just any town. It is a sensory experience not to be found anywhere else in the world. Historic Stone Town is one of Tanzania’s most beloved tourist attractions. Stone Town is UNESCO World Heritage Site and the kind of place you could spend days and days wandering around, once a flourishing trading hub, is utterly captivating: the history and melting pot of African, Arab, Indian and European cultures; the vivid shades of every colour imaginable; the textures; the vibrant energy of the seafront and markets; and the friendly locals. The storied history of Stone Town is every bit as big as the beaches and crystal-clear waters. No visit to Zanzibar would be complete without a night or two in Stone Town. Check-in at Antonio’s Garden hotel and have lunch at Lukeman’s. Visit the prison island and have a city tour later in the day. Visit the Faradhoni night market and have some delicious food, enjoy cultural dances from the locals, night swimming competition and return to the hotel to rest
The sun is out by 5 so you will have breakfast early and head out to the spice plantations. This tour is a walking tour in a spice farm (shamba). While there, you shall see how the spices, herbs and fruits grow and are cultivated. Your tour guide will describe how the crops can be used. You will be smelling and tasting spices, herbs and tropical fruits such as clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, vanilla, coconuts, papaya, chili, black pepper, jackfruit, cardamom, cassava and oranges. After the tour you will enjoy traditional tea at the farm. Here is when you can really taste the different ways of using spices. After your tour you will head out to Nugwi beach, have lunch and head to the beach to relax and rewind in the calm blue and green clear waters. Located north of the island, Nungwi is the second biggest town in Zanzibar and renowned for its luxurious resorts & palm-fringed beaches. Visitors are treated with an abundance of restaurants, serving themed buffet dinners, striking cocktails and live entertainment. Here will experience an assortment of blue hues, dramatic sunsets, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches, a piece of aquatic paradise. Beyond the perfectly arranged sunbeds with an opportunity to rent a traditional dhow boat to enjoy sailing on a day trip to Mnemba Island. The waters here are teeming with tropical marine life and snorkeling is the best way to experience this captivating aquatic marvel. Another unique feature of Nungwi is the Mnarani Natural Aquarium where injured sea turtles are being rehabilitated until they can be released back into the wild. A 45-minute stroll down the beach will take you to nearby Kendwa Beach, which is also very popular with visitors and it’s a perfect spot for swimming. Explore outside of your resort, the combination of spectacular scenery and delectable cuisine which is proof of why Nungwi is a holiday and honeymoon paradise
Check out of the Hotel after your breakfast and head to the Zanzibar Museum. Here you will have a clear picture of the city at a glance and enjoy a cup of tea in the rotating restaurant at the museum. Head out to the airport and return home with lots of memories and a refreshed mind
